People Seminar – Re-energise the business to maximise opportunities
Tourism NI were delighted to be partnering with NI Hotels Federation to deliver a number of virtual seminars in preparation for the reopening of the sector.
The ‘road to recovery’ will not be achieved without people. We have to remember those that will recover our business and that isn’t just our customers, it’s our staff. Without them we will not be able to deliver the services our customers are expecting. The issue is some of them may not have worked for almost a year, whilst others are experiencing - like many of us - lockdown fatigue; many are struggling and desperate to do anything, whilst there will be those who are struggling just to get off the sofa!
This 45 minute seminar focused on re-energising the business to maximise opportunities.
Whilst there may be concerns and a lack of confidence in coming back to the business, the team need to be ready to hit the ‘road to recovery’ running. Ensuring they are fit for purpose, embracing the new procedures, comfortable and enthusiastic to get back to work, was the focus of this session. It covered:
Redeployment – Training and development will be key to getting the team on track again. Teams will need to be multiskilled across the operation and be willing to jump in when needed. Recruitment and retention will be even more important, so do you have a development plan for the team on their return?
Refocused – Furlough, apathy, uncertainty, no Netflix at work; what do you have in mind to refocus the team on getting results? We need to remind the team of what they did and what they can do; we need to rebuild their confidence in themselves and ensure they believe in the business. How will you manage and motivate them to keep on track and deliver?
Reward – Whilst managers and owners have been concerned about their businesses, staff have been anxious about their own futures. There is a strong chance that those who have been working, were working in an understaffed, stressful environment and, if they haven’t been, they probably will be in the near future. People work in this industry because of the people; something we haven’t had much contact with. What do you have planned to bring back some fun into the business?
This seminar was delivered by Tim Browne - an experienced trainer with an engaging mix of energy, enthusiasm and humour in his delivery to teams and audiences.
