Filming and Sharing TikTok Videos
Check out these tips and tricks for filming and sharing content on TikTok.
- When you’re ready to start your first TikTok, you just need to tap the ‘+’ at the bottom of the screen.
- The camera will open, revealing a red record button. Before you start recording, you can add a song, so that your lip-sync, dance, or skit is in time with the music.
- If you want to film something in the moment, you can skip ahead and start recording without a musical track, then add the music later.
- TikTok also has an array of augmented reality effects that can be used in videos, which do things like change the colour of your hair or eyes. These can be found in ‘Effects’ on the bottom left-hand side to browse.
- On the right side of the recording screen is a ‘Beauty’ button, which subtly erases the dark shadows under your eyes. The ‘Filters’ menu is just below, where you can choose from numbered filters to give your video an added personal touch.
- Another feature that is useful when recording is the ‘Timer’, which lets users film videos hands-free.
Duets on TikTok
Once you master regular TikToks, you can experiment with ‘Duets’. Duets allow you to build on another user's lip sync TikTok video by recording your own video alongside the original as it plays.
How it works: Duets split the screen in half, showing you and the other creator’s video in view. Then you can start recording. Whether you get staff involved or do it with friends and with trends, it can make for engaging and unique content.
