Many employers fail to see that students are the future. Students could be studying subjects out of the hospitality remit but will take up jobs for extra money. Nourishing and appreciating students is key, as many current success leaders with our industry fell into the industry this very way and have finished their 3rd level education and taken up a career in hospitality & tourism as a result of enjoying it. Those who fail to identify this are denting the future talent pipeline, as there is no better catchment than to have this generation in your premises to grow and develop.
As an employer, you will either encourage that individual into a career within the industry or have them walk away with a bad impression! The decision is yours, but it’s important to reflect that this impacts the entire industry, and as an ambassador you are failing the industry if they have a bad experience.
