Accessibility Initiatives
Access Able
AccessAble provides people with disabilities with the detailed information they need to work out if a place is going to be accessible for them.
The AccessAble Access Guides provide detailed information about a venue's access.
Everyone's accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. A trained surveyor from AccessAble will check out your premise in person and create your Access Guide which is 100% facts, figures and photographs.
Access Guides are published on www.AccessAble.co.uk and the AccessAble App; free at the point of use and used by 1.8+ million people during 2020. Clients can link their own websites and resources to Access Guides to improve inclusivity and maximise return on investment.
You can sign up to AccessAble to get your venue featured on www.AccessAble.co.uk
Euan’s Guide
EuansGuide.com is the disabled access review website where disabled people, their families, friends and carers’ can find and share the accessibility of venues around Northern Ireland and beyond. The website shares thousands of experiences and is the go-to tool for many disabled people. Visit the website here.
Euan’s Guide is opening doors for disabled people to find great places to go. By breaking down barriers of exclusion, it gives everyone the freedom to explore.
Don't assume that people already know your venue is accessible (or isn't) - it's up to you to make that information easy to find!
Who can list on Euan's Guide?
Any business, visitor attraction or public space can list on Euan's Guide
The current lack of disabled access information out there makes it difficult for people to find new places to go, like your venue. By adding your access information, you're helping disabled people find great places to go and putting your venue on the map for millions more visitors each year.
How to list your business on Euan’s Guide
A disabled access listing is a great way to share your access information with future potential visitors! Different from reviews, access listings are submitted by people who work at or run venues, and a listing contains information and photos about that venue's access provision.
Listings are a good place for disabled people to start when they want to know if your place or space has an accessible toilet for instance, or whether you have a hoist for guests if you're a hotel. These are just a few examples of how creating a listing on Euan's Guide could help more people find you when planning trips or days out. Then, when you get some reviews, people can make even more informed choices about whether your space will be suitable for them.
You can list your tourism business on EuansGuide.com, to help disabled people find great places to go.
Once you have listed, you can ask visitors to leave you a review and share all the great things they're saying about you. To get your venue listed, visit List a Venue - Euan's Guide - Disabled Access Reviews
JAM CARD
We Are Proud to Support The JAM Card
Tourism NI are proud to be supporting the NOW Group’s innovative JAM Card and give Just a Minute to people with learning disabilities and difficulties and anyone with a communication barrier.
The JAM Card can help, as a discreet way of telling people that they may sometimes need a little extra time and patience in any situation they need it, including in holiday accommodation, visitor attractions, restaurants and public transport.
It is a card that people can carry or display on their smart phone to tell staff that they need ‘Just a Minute’ a little patience and support.
How to become JAM-Friendly
JAM Card Awareness Training provides organisations with the knowledge they need to ensure that users of the JAM Card feel welcome in their establishment. If a business is “JAM-Friendly” they will display the JAM-Friendly sticker.
