Strategic Development

The Industry Development team supports businesses across the sector to be more innovative, sustainable and inclusive. It monitors and evaluates industry performance and provides tailored supports based on identified areas for improvement and growth. The team also leads on industry-wide issues including skills and career development.

The Experience Development team works with the industry and key partners across Northern Ireland to bring the Northern Ireland Embrace a Giant Spirit brand to life through a collection of new and unique experiences that show the very best that Northern Ireland has to offer.  Actions are focused in three priority areas – Food and Drink, Culture and Heritage, and Landscapes and Activities.

The Regions team works with partners to identify ways in which local areas can create and maximise tourism opportunities. It seeks to ensure that tourism plans and actions are aligned and to optimise opportunities for collaboration in order to deliver shared outcomes and goals. The team works across Northern Ireland as part of a strategic approach to achieve regional balance.

The Investment Programmes team is responsible for the design and development of financial assistance programmes to expand and improve the range of high quality visitor attractions and  experiences across Northern Ireland.

The City and Growth Deals involve packages of significant investment across Northern Ireland over the next decade.  Tourism NI’s role is to maximise the success and impact of the tourism projects being progressed through the Deals. The City and Growth Deals team is working closely with Councils and other partners on the proposed investments as they are developed and implemented.

The Quality & Standards team provides face-to-face advice, certification and grading services to providers of visitor accommodation, visitor attractions and experiences. The team’s focus is on achieving a high quality and sustainable offer for visitors. It is responsible for the application of legislation as set out in the Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 and ensuring that all visitor accommodation meets minimum standards.
